How To Ensure That Emails Are Working With Email Exchange
If you've just purchased an Email Exchange plan with Crazy Domains, it has to be connected properly to your Domain Name to ensure that your Emails work. To do this, you need to check your Domain's Name Servers and some relevant DNS Records.
Follow these steps or jump to the specific topic that you need:
As a bonus, jump to the link below to learn how you can protect your domain and the credibility of your brand:
Step 1: Check Your Name Servers
The rule is simple. The Name Servers you use for your Domain will tell the system where to check your MX, SRV, and other DNS Records. Incorrect Name Servers, despite all other settings being correct, will still result in the inability to send/receive emails.
Access your Account Manager and check which Name Servers you're using. To help you check and manage your Name Servers, click here.
If your Domain is not registered with us, you may access your Domain provider's platform to check.
For Domains with No Website/Other Services
You only need to make sure that you're using the following Name Servers:
Name Server Records | Crazy Domains Product | Where to Update DNS |
ns1.premium.exchange ns2.premium.exchange |
Email Exchange Hosting 2016 | Exchange Manager |
For Domains with a Website/Other Services
It's possible that you're using the Name Servers for your Hosting service. In this case, refer to the correct records below for Domains connected to Crazy Domains Hosting:
Name Server Records | Crazy Domains Product | Where to Update DNS |
ns1.syrahost.com ns2.syrahost.com |
WordPress Hosting Website Builder eCommerce Builder Web Hosting (Linux) Web Hosting (Windows) |
Hosting Manager - cPanel Hosting Manager - Plesk |
ns1.dnspackage.com ns2.dnspackage.com |
Premium DNS | Account Manager |
If your Domain is connected to a hosting service that is not with Crazy Domains, please contact your Hosting Provider to make sure that your Name Servers are correct.
Congratulations! You've now settled on which Name Servers to use. Remember that where you update your MX, SRV, and other DNS Records, will depend on the Name Servers that you're using.
Step 2: Check Your MX Records
An MX Record or Mail eXchange Record, is a file that explains how an email should be delivered to the right address. If incorrect, the system would not know how to send or receive your emails.
Check and ensure that you have the following MX Records for your Exchange plan:
Type | Location | Records | Priority |
MX | AU | smtp.ds.network | 5 |
smtp-uk.ds.network | 10
MX | EU (UK) | smtp-uk.ds.network | 5 |
smtp.ds.network | 10 |
To check and update your MX Records, follow the instructions that apply to you:

Or, if there is no MX Record, click Add Record, select MX from the drop-down list under Record Type, enter the correct data, and click Save.
Congratulations! You've now reviewed and updated your MX Records.
Step 3: Check Your SRV Records
The SRV Record or Service Record, indicates the location of a service using a specific destination port number and hostname. With the SRV Record you can easily set up your Exchange mail service on Microsoft Outlook - without having to input your server settings - as it is automatically detected.
To fully maximise the Exchange 2016 features for autodiscover, the SRV Record for both AU and EU (UK) servers should be properly set to the following:
Type | Location | Record | NameTarget | Port | Priority | Weight |
SRV | AU | mail.premium.exchange | 443 | 0 | 1
SRV | EU (UK) | email.premium.exchange | 443 | 0 | 1 |
To check and update your SRV Records, follow the instructions that apply to you:
- If via Account Manager, follow this guide.
- If via Hosting Manager, follow the guide for cPanel or Plesk.
- If via Exchange Manager, follow the instructions below:

Or, if there is no SRV Record, click Add Record, select SRV from the drop-down list under Record Type, enter the correct data, and click Save.
Congratulations! You've now reviewed and updated your SRV Records.
BONUS: Prevent Spammers from Spoofing Your Domain
The SPF, or Sender Policy Framework, is a system that allows you to specify mail servers and IP addresses that are authorised to send mail using your Domain(s). It's the most basic requirement that mail servers user for preliminary spam checking. But, how exactly does it work?
Cybercriminals (like spammers and phishers) like to hide behind other people's Domain Names via Email Spoofing - forging an email header to make it look like it's coming from you and not them. When your Domain is SPF-protected, the system automatically conducts an email authentication protocol each time your Domain is used for sending emails. When an unauthorised mail server or IP address uses your Domain, it fails SPF authentication and will not deliver the emails.
To protect your Domain, you can manually add our SPF Record as a TXT Record. Refer to the data below:
Type | Record |
SPF/TXT | v=spf1 +a +mx include:_spf.syrahost.com ~all |
To check and update your SPF/TXT Record, follow the instructions that apply to you:
- If via Account Manager, follow this guide.
- If via Hosting Manager, follow the guide for cPanel or Plesk.
- If via Exchange Manager, follow the instructions below:
- Log in to your Exchange Manager.
- Under System, click on the Domains icon.
- Select the Domain Name you wish to manage.
- Click the Edit DNS Zone Records button. Your TXT and other records should appear here.
- Click the Pencil Icon corresponding to your TXT Record, enter the correct data, and click Save.
Or, if there is no TXT Record, click Add Record, select TXT from the drop-down list under Record Type, enter the correct data, and click Save.
NOTE: The SPF Record can also be automatically enabled via Hosting Manager - cPanel (not Plesk) using these steps:
- Log in to your Hosting Manager.
- Under Email, click Authentication.
- Scroll down to the SPF section and click Enable. This will automatically add your SPF record.
Congratulations! You've just protected your domain from spammers.
IMPORTANT: All Name Server and other DNS Record updates are automatically added but will take up to 24 hours to propagate across the network. Please wait for this period to complete. If after propagation period your emails still do not work properly, please contact our 24/7 support.
