How To Set Up Email on Outlook on Office 365 Manually

Outlook is primarily an email platform that gives you the freedom to manage how you send and receive emails, and also includes other functions like calendar, contacts, task manager, among others.

Exchanging emails is its primary purpose. Alternatively, you can use multiple email accounts to communicate with colleagues within your organisation. But wouldn’t it be easier and less complicated to communicate through a single platform? That is what Outlook is for.

For that reason, mailboxes like Office 365, IMAP accounts, etc. can be set up within your Outlook account for easy and simplified exchange of data in the form of emails, which you’ll learn in this guide.

Learn how to configure your mail client to make sure your email works seamlessly on software like Outlook by following the steps below:

 

Setting Up Your Account on Outlook

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 2016 and click on File.

  2. Select Add Account under the Account Information menu item.

  3. Choose the option to create a new account, and select the option Manually setup or additional server types. Then, click Next to proceed.

  4. Choose POP or IMAP, then click Next.

  5. Fill in the settings for your new email account.
     

    If you have Web Hosting:

     
    • Incoming mail server: mail.(yourdomain)
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.(yourdomain)
     

    If you have Email Hosting:

     
    • Incoming mail server: imap.premium.crazydomains.com
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.premium.crazydomains.com
     

    Then, click the More Settings button.

  6. Click the Outgoing Server tab, choose the option My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Then, select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server and click OK.

  7. By clicking OK, it will route you back to the Account settings window. Click the Next button.
  8. Outlook will now test your account settings and you will see: Log onto incoming mail server, and Send test e-mail message. Once the test is completed, click Close.

  9. Then click Finish.
