An A Record (Address Record) points a domain or subdomain to an IP address/Server so that when someone types that domain or subdomain in the address bar, the browser knows where to go. It's the basic type of DNS Record.
DNS Records are used to control the location of a resource on the Internet. As an example, an A Record is used to point a domain name, such as "google.com", to the IP address of Google's hosting server, "188.8.131.52".
